Yours truly opening night at The Bates Motel & Haunted Hayride

Opening night at The Bates was last night and it was a great kick-off to the 2012 haunt season. That's me up there in a great off kilter get up. Had tons of people pose with me for pics, and I will say working in a mask - especially one as big and hot as that, with obstructed vision - was a learning experience. But I think it can only get better and better.

If you're in the area, come check us out!

The resembalnce is uncanny.....

My kinda girl.......

Yo ho ho and a little too much rum.

Alison Whelan, 51, who reportedly hijacked a ferry while yelling at police officers that she was Jack Sparrow, has been jailed.

Whelan was on a two-day bender near a harbor in Devon, England last September when she called emergency services and said she thought she was having a seizure, according to the Sun.....

Whelan then began untying the boat and as it drifted away, witnesses say they heard her shouting "I'm a pirate" and "I'm Jack Sparrow."

Whelan was not only drunk, the BBC reports, but had also been eating deadly nightshade -- a poisonous hallucinogenic plant.

Skellies for sale at auction

Story in the link.

SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. - A pair of skeletons for sale at a Pennsylvania auction house went for more than a couple of bones.

A Lancaster County antiques dealer bought both skeletons Tuesday at Tom Hall Auctions in Schnecksville. A male skeleton in a tuxedo went for $900 and his Bible-carrying female counterpart went for $950.

The skeletons are believed to be of German or Irish origin in the late 19th or early 20th century. They each were owned at one point by a New York mortician's museum and the Independent Order of Oddfellows, the likely origin of their accessories.

Homeland Security warns of zombie apocalypse

Your tax dollars at work.

WASHINGTON - "The zombies are coming!" the Homeland Security Department says.

Tongue firmly in cheek, the government urged citizens Thursday to prepare for a zombie apocalypse, part of a public health campaign to encourage better preparation for genuine disasters and emergencies. The theory: If you're prepared for a zombie attack, the same preparations will help during a hurricane, pandemic, earthquake or terrorist attack.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency hosted an online seminar for its Citizen Corps organization to help emergency planners better prepare their communities for disaster. The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last year first launched a zombie apocalypse social media campaign for the same purposes.

Emergency planners were encouraged to use the threat of zombies — the flesh-hungry, walking dead — to encourage citizens to prepare for disasters. Organizers also noted the relative proximity to Halloween.

About The American Scream:

From the same director/producer of the critically-acclaimed hit documentary Best Worst Movie (2009), The American Scream is an unconventional look at the Halloween cultural phenomenon of homemade haunted houses and the enthusiasts behind the scenes. Filmed in the sleepy enclave of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, The American Scream follows the creative minds behind three local homemade haunts and their passionate - and sometimes harrowing - efforts in igniting their town’s Halloween spirit each year.

Prior to premiering on Chiller, The American Scream will debut as an official selection of Fantastic Fest, held September 20-27 in Austin, Texas. The American Scream is produced by Michael and Lindsay Stephenson, Zack Carlson and Rod Olson for Magic Stone Productions and Meyer Shwarzstein of Brainstorm Media; Michael Stephenson directs

Man dressed as clown & carrying knife arresed

Cue the creepy circus music...........

A man, dressed like a clown, was arrested by the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office just after 11:00 pm Sunday night, on a charge of criminal trespassing.

The victim told deputies a clown was on their property without permission; he had a knife in his waist band and left the area, walking from Ulster Street to Sabina Drive.

Deputies say while they were searching for the subject, another resident approached them, saying a clown had entered a home on Sabina Drive.
