Vintage Creature fish tank decoration

Seeing this 70's Creature figure makes me wish I had a fish tank!

Thanks to rockpainterx for sharing over on the Classic Horror Film Board.

  1. Sweet, my wife and I have been discussing redoing our 100 gallon tank in our office and switching it to a horror theme.

  2. Bummer, just realized it was not a reissue, but a flashback

  3. Sorry 'bout that. Yeah, they should do a reissue!

  4. Oh my, but that is all kinds of awesome. I would almost get a fish tank/cat sushi buffet just to have that in it!

    Cheers!

  6. VERY cool! The Creature was always my favorite Universal Monster. I've never seen one of these before.

  7. As a young child I actually had one of these, at the age of 7 we moved and in the commotion of the move this turned up missing along with an assortment Aurora Monster Models...and my rock-em-sock-em robots. That was indeed a dark day...still pissed about that

  8. Man, when I was a kid I used to BEG my mom for one of these. She'd always look at me funny, and then say "but we don't HAVE an aquarium". She totally missed my point!

A few years ago, I actually did a bit of research into this item. Apparently, the company that made this never actually had the license from Universal to use the Creature (which is why the box simply labels him as a "monster"). They went under the radar for years, but were eventually forced to discontinue production.

Penn-Plax still exists today, and they still get dozens of calls every week about their Creature Aerator. No doubt, if they can ever get the legal issues worked out with Universal, a new version of this is high on their priority list!
