The Host 2 is going 3D

If any of you have not seen "The Host" stop what you are doing and go rent it. In my opinion, this is one of the best asian monster movies ever made (click here for the trailer).
The folks over at Horror News Network posted this about the upcoming sequel...color me excited.

"Host 2," the sequel to director Bong Joon-ho's monster flick -- the highest-grossing Korean film of all time -- is being prepped as a 3D project, according to the film's producer Chungeorahm Films. "

Given the nature of the film and the current trends in the global film market, we think that 3D is the medium to go," said Su-yeon Kim at the company's international business division. "But this will delay the film's release date and bring significant changes to the film's logistics."

The original "Host," a deeply political satire about a family trying to protect themselves from a moster in Seoul's main river, attracted 13 million admissions in Korea when it opened in 2006. Worldwide, the film was sold to 134 countries and earned $90 million. The script for "Host 2" is currently under last-minute revision. The film is expected to be released in the summer of 2012.

  1. Agreed - I'm a big fan of the original film. I try to turn people onto this one in particular. Here's hoping the sequel isn't sucky - although I could do without the 3D jazz....
