The Strange Case of Hyde (201?)

Check out this monsteriffic news, boils and ghouls! No, this isn't the Keanu Reeves J&H project, and it's not the 50 cent J&H either - this is another film adaptaion about the good doctor and his alter ego.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Skydance Prods., Dark Horse Entertainment and producer Mark Gordon are adapting the soon to be released Dark Horse comicbook "The Strange Case of Hyde," written by screenwriter Cole Haddon.

Interesting to note that they say this won't be " . . . a retelling of the story but seeks to give it a fresh take by making the split personality the center of a Victorian-era action-adventure that sees him go head-to-head against a historical villain." Could be promising?

Haddon went on to say that "Mr. Hyde is one of my favorite literary villains, but he hasn't been given his due on the big screen for the better part of a century.I'm excited to be playing a part in restoring him to his proper place in the pantheon of movie monsters: at the top of the food chain."

Sweet! As a huge fan of Jekyll & Hyde through of all his (their?) film adaptaions, I am definitely hopeful about not only this new comic, but a cool movie version to follow. Hopefully it's done in a cool and fun way without being goofy or plain bad (The Mummy or Van Helsing - yes, yes, I know people like those movies but they're just not my thing).

More details as they come, kids!

  1. Funnily enough, my dad HIGHLY enjoys movies like the Mummy or Van Helsing, yet he disses such actual classics like Halloween, or the Fog. Takes all kinds, I guess.
