Creature From The Black Lagoon (2011)

As noted during the "Best Fright Flicks" segment "eva" on award-winning Hauntcast 14, the Creature reboot had some recent news.

Variety is reporting that Universal is talking to Carl Rinsch to direct their Gill Man flick. Strike Entertainment's Marc Abraham and Eric Newman will produce, along with Gary Ross.

If you recall, earlier this year Fango had some really cool news and art concepts from FX artist Vincent Guastini.

According to the article, Guastini said:

“At this moment, I have some idea which direction they're going in, but as of now, it’s still ongoing and we’ll have to see what the outcome of this will be. These are my ideas that are both traditional and freshened up, without destroying the classic original. We also did a version that was an exact replica of the original creature as a model to give them a full idea where we are going from, and what improvements we can make and the possibilities of what the Creature could look like. Whatever happens I feel very confident that whichever direction Universal goes in will be the right one.”

I really dig the concepts as they do not stray too far from the orignal Creature, but have a few tweaks here and there without making the monster unreognizable.

Additionally, Universal is said to be going "back to the drawing board" in terms of script and seeking out writers for a whole new story. So, it would appear that Gary Ross' script has been trashed........

More creepy details as they come our way, gang!
